$UNIPEG trades on uniswap v1. not v2, not v3, not v4. the 2018 vyper contracts, ETH one side, UNIPEG the other. uniswap tried to throw v1 away. the delete failed. it is old and it works, and we are here to revive it.

every other token fights for a slot on v4 hooks. we walked into the contracts the whole industry is built on and turned the lights on. one exchange contract, written in vyper, live since 2018, fees to LPs, nothing to govern.

we are the chart
dexscreener skips v1. dextools skips v1. the official app dropped it years ago. so our app reads the exchange's own event logs straight off the chain. no api, no backend, no permission. until we get integrated, we index ourselves.

the delete that failed
the interface dropped v1. the docs filed it under legacy. the aggregators route around it. but immutable code cannot be thrown away. the factory still answers createExchange(). forever. that is not a bug report, that is the thesis.

on gmgn: gmgn does not index uniswap v1 yet, so the chart and stats there
will look empty. buying works on gmgn. selling does not. until they integrate
v1 you have to come back here to sell. that gap is the whole point of this
site: until they add v1, we index it ourselves.
chart, transactions, holders and the buy panel live on the token page. quotes computed client side with the v1 formula, buys call ethToTokenSwapInput, sells call tokenToEthSwapInput. the same selectors devcon 4 shipped with.

someone tried to throw this away. the chain said no. one item in the bin since 2020, cannot be emptied, cannot be deleted. so we did the only reasonable thing. we hit restore and launched a token on it.

2017. hayden adams gets laid off from siemens.
his friend karl floersch tells him it is the best
thing that could have happened, and that he should
learn to write smart contracts. his first project:
an automated market maker vitalik had posted about.
x times y equals k. no order book. just math.
2018. the project needs a name. the working name,
the original name, is UNIPEG. unicorn crossed with
pegasus. then vitalik suggests "uniswap" instead.
the swap stuck. the peg was dropped. the most
important piece of defi infrastructure ever shipped
was one conversation away from being called unipeg.
NOV 2, 2018. uniswap v1 ships on the last day of
devcon 4. written in vyper. no token, no governance,
no fee switch, no admin. it does one thing, it
cannot be changed, and it cannot be stopped.
2020 - NOW. v2, v3, v4. the interface drops v1.
the indexers never bother. the delete fails,
because immutable files do not delete.
TODAY. we took the name they dropped and the venue
they dropped and put them back together. until we
get integrated, we are our own infrastructure.
after we get integrated, we were right.
the original name. the original venue. still working.
